The most common adult ailments treated at Hope For The Island Medical Mission Clinic (MMC):

1) INFECTIONS caused by motorcycle & work related accidents, dog bites, skin allergies, boils, machete wounds, rashes, kidney, ear

2) COUGH due to Asthma, Pneumonia & Tuberculosis

3) FEVERS triggered by infection, viruses & sudden weather changes

4) ULCERS/ HYPER ACIDITY

5) HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE

The top five reasons children attend the MMC:

MALNOURISHMENT, INFECTIONS, FEVER, COUGHS & TOOTHACHES

Villagers continually testify that HIF has the most effective medicine and exhibits unwavering love and concern for their physical, emotional and spiritual needs. We remind them that all the glory belongs to God. It is a privilege to extend this love to others without political, religious or social motives.

HIF actively follows up patients from surrounding villages. God recently provided our ministry with a small Suzuki motorcycle! We are now free to minister to more people in one day. The roads are rugged and often treacherous especially during monsoon season (Nov-Feb). Some sections of the road get washed away because of torrential rains making them impassable. We trust God for His protection and covering as we travel at times with 3 staff on one motorcycle.

On one particular day a man attended the MMC after a bad motorcycle accident. He was known to be a tough guy in his village. After treating a patients our staff pray for and minister to their individual needs. On this occasion our staff discerned that he was not open to God’s Word, so she silently prayed for him and asked God to soften his heart. His second accident was worse. He came again asking to have his wounds cleaned. His injury was serious and covered an area from his upper arm down to his leg. Grace and Dinah tended to his wounds and with his permission they prayed over him. He now thanked and praised God for using our ministry as an instrument to help him recover. His heart is now more receptive to the message of God’s faithfulness and goodness!! We ask for your prayer for him and his family to receive the good news of Jesus Christ.

Another answer to prayer came when Grace testified how she has been moved out of her comfort zone. Up to this point she was uncomfortable watching infected sores being cleaned. Grace was inspired as she continually heard how much these impoverished people appreciated God’s love and thanked Jesus for the medicine, vitamins and love that they received. She joyfully cleans the same sores that once made her uneasy!
