Hope for the Island

Hope for the Island Learning Center
Our school closing program was March 18th. Five of our students graduate into Grade 1. This year our field trip was an Island Educational Tour. We loaded parents & children into the biggest jeepney we could rent. A stop at a local resort taught them about tourism & the effect it has on our island.

Visiting the Post Office was new for most as they learned how to mail a letter. The final stop was a tourist hub 2hrs away where we played games & swam in the ocean. What a wonderful way to end the year!!

Mercy Ministry/ Medical Mission Clinic
This month many villagers came asking for help to buy medicine for a hospital stay or to pay for
surgery. One particular woman had a basketball size tumor on her ovary. She scheduled the surgery suggested by doctors even though she had no income for the surgery or medicine required for her recovery. She eventually received financial help from the government for her operation. As part of our Mercy Ministry , Hope for the Island came alongside her financially paying for the medicine, lab fees, travel & follow up visits. We were also there to support her during the surgery. It was a success. She is recovering well & thanking God for His provision!

Summer is approaching on Siargao Island. Rainy season is over which means less water & an increase in various forms of skin disease. Proper hygiene using soap & clean water will prevent many of these diseases. Poverty keeps many from using soap. Pink eye is also very common. Join us in praying for a pink eye free season!!!

Organic Farm
God answers prayer! Recently Hope for the Island received a donation from a Canadian to pay for the land. We praise God who impressed upon an individual’s heart that he should give for this need & sew into the ministry!!! A perimeter fence for the land is almost finished. The next stage is the deep water well. (See Feb update) Continue to pray for God’s provision as we move ahead.
